Frequently Asked Questions

How can I send my Headshot and Resume to the Casting Collective? If you already have my info on file how can I update it?

The best way to be on the Casting Collective's radar for upcoming projects is to send your information into our Actor Database. Alongside headshots and resumes, the database gathers other relevant info (languages spoken, playable age range, etc.) to help our Casting Directors pair actors with appropriate opportunities.

If you'd like to update the info we have on file, simply fill out the database form again with your most current info. We periodically comb through the database and delete the older version of any duplicate entries.

We recommend actors update their information with us annually so that we always have a recent headshot and resume on hand.

Does the Casting Collective host open auditions? How can I find out about these?

The Casting Collective hosts a mix of open calls and invited auditions based on the needs of our clients.

Notices for open calls will be posted on Playbill.com and AEA's job board.

Can I request to audition for a particular show or a particular role?

Actors may request to be seen for specific shows or roles, but requesting an audition does not guarantee that an actor will receive an appointment.

For invited auditions, our Casting Directors use the database and our professional networks to curate invitation lists based on discussions with the director of each production. There are many variable factors that go into whether an actor receives an invitation, and these factors change from show to show. Our Casting Directors are trusted to exercise their discernment about which actors will be compelling candidates for each director's specific vision and production goals.

I auditioned for a project managed by the Casting Collective and have not heard back. Can I have an update on my status?

Every casting process is a complicated puzzle with lots of variables and moving pieces that sometimes stretches on for months.

For Equity Principal Auditions or open calls, we do not always have capacity to follow up with all attendees. If you attended an EPA or open call that we managed and have not heard back within a month, you should assume that you are no longer in consideration.

For invited auditions, we will always notify actors of their final status for a project when we are able to. Our team does not sit on information; when we have an update on your status that we consider actionable, you will receive that update. Contacting our Casting Directors to ask for an update will not lead to you receiving an update sooner.

May I have feedback on my recent audition?

To be candid, probably not.

Each Casting Director on our team has their own boundaries around this, but our team is extremely busy and will likely not have capacity to provide actors with audition feedback.

How can I get involved with casting? Is the Casting Collective hiring?

The Casting Collective is not seeking any new team members at the moment.

Our best advice for anyone who wants to get into casting for theatre is to see as many shows as possible at as many diferent companies as possible to build a broad awareness of the local actors in your region.
